This was my first time at this meeting. First, I was struck by the beauty of the oranges, golds, and bright reds of the harvest. Then I started noticing the small things in the hotel . . .the art, the hospitality, the elegance of the simplicity. The presentations mixed scientific advances (e.g., wine's impact on vascular function) with wine appreciation (e.g., anti-irrigation; multiplicity with cohesion). The wine tastings revealed the minerality that defines the Willamette Valley wines. But my very best moments were listening to Ted playing the drums and dancing to Watson's Riddle. This meeting draws together "wine people" who, for a moment in time, embrace the sensuality of food, wine, conversation, and intellectual exchange. Je suis une habitue.

From our perspective, this was an exceptional program with great academics, marvelous hospitality, and fantastic foods and wine. Moreso, it was a great opportunity to be with our society members, renewing friendships and meeting really wonderful new people. We look forward to your feedback. |
