Just Pick Up and Go!
A great deal of my very limited brain cells have been committed to planning for the mission trip that will take place between July 26th and August the 2nd. Preparing the supplies that will be necessary, anticipating the needs of our Tennessee friends in advance, and ensuring coverage of Beltsville ministries in our absence are all logistical headaches. Is it all worth it? Yes, absolutely, but it is time-consuming and mind-numbing work. It makes me wonder if there will be a time when we can just pick up and go!
If the Bible is precedent-setting and precept-forming, which I believe that it is, then there is hope for my addled brain. When we serve Jesus in eternity, I am convinced that He will send us out to exercise our spiritual gifts with nothing more than faith. When Jesus sent out His disciples (see Luke 9), He told them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.” Ah, blessed simplicity. What a joy to simply say, “Yes Lord,” pick up and go!
What adventures will the Lord commission you for in eternity? Will He send you on a 1,000 year mission to develop, cultivate, and produce the perfect foods for a banquet in the next Millennia? Perhaps He will have you travel to a distant land in order to grow the finest trees ever known, so that you can supply craftsmen and make musical instruments for a massive praise concert in Heaven. Whatever He sends you out to do in eternity, you know that it will be wonderful!
In the time being, we will tax our limited resources in order to plan for events and ministries, knowing that a day is coming when we will be able to just Pick Up and Go!
