By the time that this newsletter is being read in April, our family will have made an important decision. The question at hand is: What High School will our daughter be attending? She is so fortunate to have choices available to her: High Point is her district school for Beltsville, Roosevelt has accepter her into their Science & Technology program, and Chapelgate Christian Academy is interested having her as a student. Tick, tock, tick, tock, decisions need to be made. What to do, what to do, what to do?
For a Christian, Making important decisions are made easier when we have the right focus, and when we utilize the resources made available to us. We should always keep in mind that our decisions are not so much about our desires as they are about discovering the will of God. To put in anther way: Seeking answers to life’s questions is accomplished by seeking the Lord. Jesus does not want us to be burdened by the concerns of life; He wants us to seek Him in all that we do. Remember His words from Matthew 6:31-34 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
The Christian community has a wealth of resources for discovering the will of God. We have Scripture to instruct and inspire us, we have fellow believers who encourage us and give us godly counsel, and we have prayer to make our requests known as we listen for the Lord’s answers. Although I have been nervous and excited about discovering the direction that our daughter will be taking, I have an abiding peace in knowing that God will work out His will in it all. Praise the Lord!
