Hello, everyone! I have a new tea in my collection called Sencha Hiki 1st Flush. This is a first spring harvest from the Wakayama Province in Japan. The dark green leaves have an even, slender shape and a striking, sweet-vegetal aroma. The light to medium bodied infusion reflects a natural sweetness and a complex fresh, fruity-vegetal aroma with a hint of citrus. This is considered a very rare tea. As a matter of fact, if you are familiar with Gyokuro Superior's sweetness, this one is sweeter and is very refreshing.
Last time I tasted a Sencha that is as good as this was back in Germany during the 80's. The teashop in Hamburg sold me this tea in a 200g vacuum-sealed bag, directly from a Japanese tea plantation logo. |
