Well greeting from Redman's blog. Again i just wrote this flowering piece and made a computer mistake and lost it. But since I have nothing but time, I will try to recreate it. Just read Ellen Clarks long post and if I wrote as well as her I would be just what I am now a fucking lazy wanta be writer.

I am happy to report that I just received my first social security check and it felt both kinda cool and weird. There are many schools of thought on when to take it and I will argue the financial strategy, but i took it for a couple reasons. I am just so lucky to be alive why would i wait and be pissed every month i did not get a check and how much $$ do you really need at 80 to sit around and watch TV. Plus who ever would have figured that Redman would be married to a young Jewish Doctor who still likes him after seeing his show for over 27 years. I am like a sitcom with my wife and kids the audience and as long as my Nielsen ratings are up. I am in good shape.

Took a great trip for my 62nd birthday and happy birthday to you Mike Manos. Went down South and saw 2 SEC football games and saw and did a lot of neat shit. I was deeply moved by the Birmingham Civil Rights museum and if your near, please go.

Also please come to Charleston One of the unique things about our class is basically how well everybody all the different groups got along and how you were and could be friends with a lot of different minded people. That , I think still exists today. I feel very lucky that today I see and am in touch with a lot of Bay High people from many classes. In Chicago now and really digging it, it is an amazing city, roots are roots. No one will have on there cemetery headstone" I wish I would have worked 20 more hours a week and skipped all the funshit." As the great Warren Zevon said when asked what he learned in his last year of battling pancreatic cancer, he simply said "Enjoy every sandwich." So make the time to not only come to Charleston but to do all you want to do now while we still can move. I leave you with these two thoughts. On 12-18 my two daughters are taking the train into the City to see the sights and pass out some$$. Not a lot but more than normal. I always take like 20 singles into the city and give to the street people, but usually look for a good story or a performer of some type. My requirements are much looser for the holidays and give away fives and tens. Most of us are so lucky and is nice to share a bit. "Your life is happening right now and this is the only moment you can control. This is the only moment that really matters. If you are constantly dwelling on something that happened in the past or feeling anxious about the future--YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON YOUR LIFE. Do what makes you happy in this moment and your life will be full" Hate and anger and resentment and fear are the things to avoid. Remember that having a resentment is like drinking the poison and waiting for the other person to get sick. Happy Holidays and Good Karma to all always. Redman
