Dear All

One of the tasks I "volunteered" to do at the Annual Meeting held at GSA last November 09, was to contact The Journal of Elder Abuse and Neglect, (JEAN) to determine if and how INPEA could acquire the journal as a member benefit similar to The National Committee on the Prevention of Elder Abuse,(NCPEA). Currently, membership for NCPEA is $60 USD which includes the journal as a benefit. However, the "discounted rate" JEAN is offering of $85USD obviously is out of reach for most of our members who are in developing countries.

I countered JEAN's offer asking if there is a ON LINE ONLY rate which might be much lower in cost.

I will also ask if NCPEA will SUB CONTRACT with us.

A second suggestion at the meeting was could INPEA have a blog for various discussions. To meet this request, I have set up a blog for your discussions regarding JEAN on the newly revamped INPEA WEBSITE at www.inpea.net/JEAN_Blog.

The idea is to contain a discussion within the Blog and eliminate the use of e-mails where possible. So, kindly use the BLOG and not the e mail "reply" and those who have an interest in the discussion will have easy access to everything on the issue in one place.

The third need identified (by me) was to revamp INPEA's WEBSITE which I have done for the most part with the dedicated help of Lynn Hyland our volunteer WEB Developer.

Please feel free to share any advise regarding JEAN on the blog, which you deem will be useful to our Board Members, as the BOARD OF DIRECTORS must make the final decision if we do enter into any contract.

Should I get any further infomation I will forward it.
Thank you,

Susan Somers, Secretary General March 5, 2009 6:35PM
