In my collection I have two top lidded bean pots. one was my grandmother's and the other was my mom & dads. the one my mom gave me was used for many years as a pickled egg jar. (dad kept a toothpick in the vent hole) lol anyway when I brought this old bean pot home I noticed after a few days there was a white spider web looking powder that had leeched through the pot's glaze and dried on the outside. I wiped it off with a damp paper towel and the pot looks like new as far as it's finish. I washed the pot and set it back up on my baker's rack in the kitchen, and about two days later I noticed the same thing on it again. Mom says it was mainly used for the pickled eggs over the years and nothing else. ( My dad loved them ) lol anyway I've soaked the pot several days changing the water several times and nothing will flush this out of it. Has anyone had this type of leeching through the glaze like this? I think it's the weirdest thing, because none of my other pots have ever done this. lol I guess it must have been the pickled egg mixture and it's permanently pickled. lol
Ya'll have a good one!
