Hi Peggy
I think the best way to approach this subject is to first find where the term; bridegroom is used. Then see who is is being applied to ( Israel of old) . The see what the context surrounding the subject is: Israel's uniting with their Messiah; Jesus, the son of God .
The Body of Christ is not referred to as a bridegroom in any of Paul's writings. He who has the bride is the bridegroom said Jesus. And ...
Luk 5:34 And Jesus said unto them, Can ye make the sons of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
Joh 3:28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but, that I am sent before him.
Joh 3:29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, that standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is made full.
Rev 21:9 And there came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls, who were laden with the seven last plagues; and he spake with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the wife of the Lamb.
Rev 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
I hope this helps you.
Blessing
Andy
