Hi, Jill!
Let me clear this up.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Him.
There is no other name under heaven given to men whereby me must be saved.
As we see from above, Jesus is the source for salvation.
What we see in Matt 4:22 is that Israel (the Jew) was the source of salvation. They were the nation God chose to proclaim His salvation. Goes back to Abrahamic promise.
At Acts 28:28 the proclamation of His salvation was taken from the Jew and sent (given / authorized) to the Gentile. And the Gentile will hear (take delivery) of it.
For 2,000 years the Gentile, not the Jew, has been the source (the proclaimer) of His salvation.
Jesus is still (has been and always will be) the source for salvation.
Hope this helps, Derek |
