Remembering that God had already prepared Peter (Acts 11) for the coming change in administrations (dispensations), I would say that Peter was well aware that the dispensation of the Law was about to be held in abeyance by God, and that the Kingdom Gospel was about to be superceded by the Gospel of the Grace of God. Of course, as a result of this change, Peter knew that once it occurred, that Jews and Gentiles would be "fellow heirs" in one Body. Remember, Acts 15 is when Paul went to Jerusalem "by revelation" to communicate to Peter and the 12 the gospel that he(Paul) had been given by the risen Christ, and had been preaching.
Still, what an absolutely AMAZING statement for Peter to make, huh? In light of the fact that in the past, Gentiles were considered to be "dogs", and "swine". Now here is Peter saying that he is convinced that THEY, the JEWS, GOD'S CHOSEN PEOPLE, would be saved in the same manner as Gentiles!!
I have always found that particular verse to be such a profound statement, to be coming from a Jew.
