The Bible speaks of 3 kinds of death: Physical, Spiritual and Eternal. It is clear from the following Scripture that death does not always mean the same thing in the Bible.

Let the dead bury the dead, (Matt 8:22)

How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therein,(Rom 6:2)

But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth (1 Timothy 5:6)

So it is possible to be dead and alive at the same time but not in the same sense; otherwise language would be meaningless. Death is described in a number of different ways in the Bible.

[Note Well] One must be careful to not made Old Testament statements about ''physical death'' contradict the more complete revelation of the New Testament. These Old Testament scripture are most often used by proponents of "soul sleep."

One of the clearest and most definitive Scriptures that tell us of death is given by our beloved apostle Paul:

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8)

Also:

I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. (2 Corinthians 12:2)

In both Scripture (above) the "I" which is out of the body or absent from the body is considered to be in existence in some other place. In the case of the Christian "I" that is absent from the body is said to be present or at home with the Lord.

Death, whether physical, spiritual or eternal is basically a separation, even as Isaiah says "but your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear, (Isaiah 59:2)

Where are the dead, what are they doing, what is the meaning of death, are we present with the Lord at death? Is there a discussion already here about this, if not could we get one going?
There are so many traditions, false doctrine present that many are very confused concerning this topic.
I've just looked at the forum and look forward to learning from you all. Grace & Peace, Thankfull
