Often times it is easy to sit in our studies and comtemplate deep spiritual truths. In many cases, when we learn some "new" truth, we elope to some spiritual Mars Hill and become debaters instead of disciples. While Clifford McLain taught many of us to study the Book (to whom I am eternally grateful), his spouse, Peggy, taught us how to use that truth in daily living (to whom I am also eternally grateful). Her smile, her patience, her dedication to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ has left some indelible marks on two, and in some instances three generations. She was, indeed, the epitome of Proverbs 31:10-31. She exhibited the love of Christ in health and in sickness.
There will be funeral service and the burial of some "old clothes" (2 Corinthians 5:1-4), but Peggy will not be a party to any of it. Her portion has now been realized in "heavenly places."
I know of no one who was the same after knowing Peggy McLain. What a joy she brought into the lives of both old and young.
May her life be an encouragement for the rest of us to follow her Saviour, Jesus Christ.
