Hi people

Can someone please help me - I've had a problem with slightly flat foot and Pos tip tendon pain/dysfunction for past four years - it never heals.. medical arch of foot is constantly sore and every now and again the my post tib tendon gives out - when this happens it can take 5-6 months to get better - recently I saw another surgeon who with third MRI scan diagnosed me with stage 1 pttd. I can still stand on foot and perform single leg raise (with pain) but scan shows some tendonitis in post tib tendon around narvacular bone and where it attaches to other bones in foot.

Every time I walk the tendon gets worse as if it's about to completely go.. My physio says I should just keep stretching it and do strengthening exorcises but I think this makes it worse – I’ve read about wearing a weight bearing cast for several weeks but my physio says this will just weaken it further..

I really feel I need to immobilise it for a while to let things calm down for a while.. surely if I put is in a cast or AFO for a month it would allow tendon to heal before then resuming physical therapy??

The tendon gave out again about four months ago and since then I can’t really stand on it for more than half an hour before being in considerable pain.. surely I should cast it for a while to allow it to heal..

I’ve tried all sorts of orthotics to no avail

And advise greatly appreciated..
