My 11 year-old son has been experiencing pain on the outer part of the side of his feet, directly below his ankles. The only times he feels the pain is during running drills at his youth football practices. There is no swelling around the area but the area(s) do hurt when touched a short time after his football practice.
A little background.......It's my son's 5th year in youth footall and he's never missed a practice or game. He's never had any foot pain or any other type of injury....His football practices started 2 weeks ago and he just started feeling this pain for the last 3 or 4 days.
Could it be from his new football spikes that he's been wearing to practice? They seem to fit correctly but could the pain/injury be caused by his feet receiving different kind of support then normal? The past 2 or 3 months he's been wearing nothing but sandals or flip-flops. He did wear plain running shoes to his last practice but was still feeling the pain.... For what it's worth, he does not have flat feet.
Any help would be much appreciated....Thanks! |
