Looking for a second opinion. My Podiatrist (Orthopedic Surgeon) is recommending surgery to correct a problem resulting from my high arch. I am 51 years old and have always been very active on my feet. Played sports all my life. Dr told me because of arch I am not distributing weight equally on the three points of my foot. Favoring the outside side of my left foot. (probably the right one as well) I incurred an avulsion fracture to my ankle followed (eight months later) with a Jones fracture to the same foot. Dr said it would continue to happen unless he repositions foot via surgery. I believe the procedure is called "Brostrom" (sp?) What can you tell me? Is this common with my condition?
Thanks ! |
