Hyperthyroidism CAN cause excessive sweating, but not generally limited to the feet. Also, hyperthyroidism presents with many other symptoms, and testing for the condition is rather easy. But I think that if you have real concerns that it is not a local foot problem, but a general medical problem underlying your hyperhidrosis and subsequent odor, you should consult an internist, or in the case of thyroid and other hormonal problems, perhaps an endocrinologist instead of a podiatrist for the best opinion regarding such matters. If, as you state, you are going to see your podiatrist next week, discuss your suspicions with him/her and perhaps he/she can determine whether or not they deserve further consideration. |
