Hello
In Jan I separtated from the Navy at 14 years for High Year Tenure(HYT) and received full Involuntary Separation Pay (ISP), and then joined the reserves a month later.
A few days ago, the VA notified me that I'm elegible for 40% disability claim.

My question is should I stay in the reserves and retire?

As I understand, if I do stay in the reserves, I'll be loosing the VA claim, but I retire in the reserves and then claim VA disability.
On the other hand, if I don't stay in the reserves I still would not be able to receive the VA claim due to the fact that I received full ISP pay.
In either case VA would collect the ISP pay back, either from the retirement or the VA Claim.
So, is it better to stay in the reserves and at least collect the drill pay and then retire?
