I have this idea about validations on the inventories. I'm not sure if this will be important or not but I thought I would throw it out there.
Since the "non-biased third party" inventory is the most valuable to our customers, that is what we provide with our inventory. When we finish an inventory we create a data CD which is a "validated" copy of the inventory.
But here is a thought. When we give a client Protection Plus and their data CD that we create for them, they can load that data & edit their inventory as they wish, therefore making it essentially "un-validated". It is still a valuable inventory to them, but they would (possibly) lose the non-biased third party authenticity I would think (Maybe I'm thinking too much about this aspect). I then thought what if we could offer to re-validate their inventory with an update?
They could still do their own updates as they wish, preferably emailing the changes to us, and we enter them into their database on our computer (if we chose to keep their data on our machine, which is another whole topic). When we go to the client's home for the update we will then gather all the new information, take new pictures, and delete items they no longer own. At that point we can generate a new validated inventory data CD for the client.
I have a couple ideas for making the validated CD's authentic; one is to design some fancy CD print (I print directly on my discs with my printer) that would be difficult to duplicate, or maybe to get some unique rubber stamp to use on the CD's, or maybe just your signature on the disc in Sharpie?
Still tossing this one around in my head. What do you guys think? |
