I am seeing assistance to be pointed in the right direction in learning the Extraordinary Form.
I am a parishioner at St. Monica's Parish, Methuen MA (http://stmonicamethuen.org/), and we celebrate the Extraordinary Form every Wednesday night. Our Priest has been having what I call "Liturgical Latin for Dummies" classes on Tuesday nights.
Our priest celebrates a missa recitata/dialogue mass, and encourages participation from the laity (in particular, we pray the mass with the server), which is spectacular.
It's great, but I need some supplemental material more designed to my learning style.
My biggest stumbling block is the pronunciation of Liturgical Latin.
Does there exist anywhere any audio training on the extraordinary form for servers, where the words are said slowly and clearly?
I need to hear it said, over and over to get the pronunciation right. Looking at it in a book (even spelled phonetically) isn't doing it for me.
Any advice GREATLY appreciated.
Zelo zelatus sum pro Domino Deo exercituum,
Peter G.
