Central Park in New York has to be the most haunted park in the United States. So many people have died at this park, either by murder or by suicide. When my half-brother Andres (Andy) Somprise Soyo lived in New York he visited the park several times with his then girlfriend. During dusk Andy said he would see many creepy shadows and the first thing in his mind is that this park is haunted. Let's take a look at some of the things that are or were lurking in Central Park. I am going to give you a partial list, because the actual list of creepy things in this park is huge. Added Note: Central Park was built in 1858 and has 843 acres.

1. In September 1995, a 44 year old jogger named Maria Alves was killed. In the area where they discovered her body, a ghost of a woman is seen kneeling down and crying.

2. Ramble Cave aka Indian Cave aka Suicide Cave is now sealed. When it was open to the public, terrible things occurred inside the cave. In 1929, 355 men were arrested in and around the cave for harassing women that walked past the cave. Strange sounds of moaning are sometimes heard near this cave. The now defunct NYPC (New York Phantom Chasers) said they captured an EVP of a woman yelling..."get me out of here NOW!"

3. Strange Shadow People are sometimes seen throughout the park when it starts getting dark. The shadow people appear from behind trees or they move quickly across the path you are walking. Jeramiah Standish from New Jersey says that as he was walking down a path, a shadow creature ran in front of him and then went behind him and gave him a push. Jeramiah says he completely freaked out and will only go to Central Park with a friend and during the daytime.

4. Frankenfish aka Snakehead Fish were seen in the waters of Central Park. Citizens were told if they caught a Frankenfish to immediately kill it, because it is an invasive species. As of today, no Frankenfish are seen in the waters of Central Park, but that doesn't mean they are all gone. Perhaps, just perhaps there are a few lurking deep in the waters of Central Park.

5. The ghosts of two sisters Janet & Rosetta Van Der Voort are said to haunt Central Park. The sisters enjoyed ice skating at the park and their father was very restrictive with the sisters and only allowed them to go ice skating. There are reports from visitors of the park that the two sisters are seen ice skating and there is no ice for them to be ice skating on, but there they are ice skating on grass!

6. The very haunted Dakota Building is next to Central Park. The Dakota building was shown in the Roman Polanski film "Rosemary's Baby". I have a connection to Roman Polanski, when I was a key data operator at the California Department of Justice, I was tasked to update Roman Polanski's criminal file into the Department of Justice database. The Dakota Building is also where Mark David Chapman shot and killed John Lennon. Many people who have walked past the Dakota Building make claim that they see ghostly faces looking out the window of this building. Charlotte Jonas says that she was walking her dog past the building and noticed a red-haired woman looking out one of the top windows, she let out a small scream and Charlotte says she then vanished.

7. A psychic named Lorraine says she communicated with Jennifer Levin who was killed by the Preppie Killer. Lorraine went to the site where Jennifer was killed and set up a few candles and set about channeling Jennifer. She claims Jennifer is still haunting Central Park and Jennifer says the following: "why, why?" "what did I do to deserve this?" Lorraine says you can feel deep sorrow at the killing site.

8. Central Park Spider Monkey. Curtis Leon, a long time New York resident feels that someone released a spider monkey in Central Park, because he actually saw a spider monkey in a tree at Central Park and if this story is true, it may account for a little Bigfoot sighting in Central Park as reported by paranormal author Nick Redfern. Curtis says that what he saw was no squirrel, he says the monkey had a long tail and definitely had a face of a monkey. Curtis had his encounter in 1983.

9. Some visitors encounter ghostly cats and ghostly dogs while walking on various paths in Central Park and the reason why people are encountering these ghostly animals is the fact that some New Yorkers bury their much loved deceased fur babies in the park. Central Park has become somewhat of a pet cemetery.

10. The Central Park Caiman. Yes, at one time someone had a pet Caiman, which looks like an alligator. The Caiman got too big and the owner released the Caiman in Central Park. There were many reported sightings of a loose alligator in the park and finally gator wrestler Tina Bailey captured the Caiman and got it out of Central Park before it could hurt anybody.

11: UFO Sightings in Central Park. There has been some UFO sightings in Central Park. Gladys Newsome says in 1987, she saw a small disc shaped UFO that shot down a blue beam into Central Park. The beam was only seen for a second, it was done very quickly and the UFO shot up straight into the sky. One man says he filmed a "red craft" UFO for four nights straight in one given month, and has some footage to back up his claim. He says he filmed from The Great Hill in Central Park, saying, "When I started filming, it hovers about then suddenly it descends near the Reservoir. It moved slowly and then vanishes. After about 30 min, when he got home, it popped up again for about 40 more minutes and morphed into a plane.
