Greetings,
My 1960 (or so) D15 has starter system problems. First the starter started smoking one day and basically burned up.
I assumed it didn't switch off so went through the whole system. We replaced the key unit (it starts with the key, not a button like my newer D15) and when that didn't fix it replaced the alternator. My mechanic put that all together and it seemed to be back in shape.
Yesterday I went to start it and it turned over but instead of taking off as usual I kept cranking and then the starter began "howling " and wouldn't stop until I disconnected the battery.
I connected the battery and tried again and same result.
Anyone have suggestions?
I've had this tractor for about 15 years and it has always been easy to start and pretty much trouble free. Have an enclosed shed so always under cover.
Looking forward to to hearing from some of you. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
