I responded to your question a couple of weeks ago. The response, however, was not posted. Some computer qlich probably occured. Surely it couldn't be the proverbial "user error". Nevertheless, Clark mentioned to me last Wednesday night that you had posted a question. To which I said, "Yes, and I sent George a nice answer." To which Clark said he didn't see it. I don't see it either. So, I'll try again.

It is commonly understood, and quite rightly I believe, that the passage you cite refers to John, the writer of this gospel. John's habit was to not refer to himself by name (see v. 7 and v. 24 in the same chapter). Also, compare other passages found in 13:23 and 20:2. If, after reading these references and context surrounding, you have any questions, please feel free to call or write.
