Marian,
After you grout, we recommend you stay off it for 24 hours. Its pretty forgiving, and we know lots of folks have gently walked on a freshly grouted floor without causing damage (however, keep in mind that your "gentle" may be different from someone else's "gentle"). You'll want to keep dogs off the floor for the first 24 hours if possible - they can be heavy and their nails protrude. Keep in mind the grout adheres to itself, so touch-ups later are easy.
Try to keep the traffic light until 72 hours. After 72 hours, its fine for regular traffic. The 7 days refers to using cleaning materials and scrubbing.
Regarding your appliances, you can grout that area, and move the appliance back into place immediately.
Another approach you can take is to grout a portion of the floor, let it set-up, and then grout another portion a day later - the urethane grout adheres to itself. However, when you do this, make sure you clean the grout thoroughly at each stage - the longer the urethane grout haze remains, the harder it is to remove. (Use Krud-Kutter Original formula to remove any remaining haze).
Hope this helps!
