A more specific diagnosis and far more details would be required for even an opinion. What is the history of this complaint? (When first noticed, precisely where it is, describe progression of both size and symptoms, etc.) Did your podiatrist specify whether he/she thought to be osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis? Do you have any forms of arthritis elsewhere? Was there any previous trauma to the area? Is the "knot" bony or soft tissue? Is it fixed in location or mobile? Does it seem to be arising from bone or soft tissue? What's the difference in your personal definition between "aches" and "pains?" Is there any redness and/or local heat? Does it hurt on or off of weight bearing or both? Does its contact with your shoe cause pain. Were x-rays taken, and if so, what specifics were learned from them? Have you or any other doctor attempted any sort of treatment? . . If so, what was it and what were the results? |
