Your statement that you understand "the depth of this topic and the specialized intricacies," yet you express confidence that "for some there must be simple solutions," is a dichotomy of thought which I cannot understand. Even if one COULD "throw you a bone," how would one know which bone to throw you, as you give not one word of hint even as to his symptoms. Moreover, with the facts at hand, how would one determine if whatever symptoms he suffers is related to his pes cavus. It is a common error in judgment among many lay persons to assume that symptoms are always related to what appear to them to be the obvious, and that often is not the case.

But in all honesty, by virtue of the fact that he has apparently had whatever symptoms he has complained to you of for years, and yet refuses to see a doctor who might help him, it would seem that you are far more concerned about his problem than is he. Adults of competent mind with non-life threatening illness should never be dragged kicking and screaming to a doctor. If he is unwilling to take the first step in his own behalf, I see no reason to expect one who has no dog in the hunt to spend time trying to do for him what he obviously does not wish done. It is not you I judge but him.

I would suggest you spend your time and effort in convincing him to see a doctor.
