It is unfortunate that your husband experienced post operative complications due to his neuroma surgery. There are always benefits as well as possible side-effects to any surgery no matter how 'simple' the surgical procedure may seem. There are numerous reasons why poor outcomes occur and generally it can be multiple reasons. I always inform my patients that I create changes in the foot with surgery some of which may be negative. But I also tell them that the correction achieved hopefully benefits them in such a manner that reduction of pain and/or return of function to the foot provides satisfactory results.
