I would agree, based on the relatively little that you have shared, that a likely diagnosis is Severs Disease. The condition can generally be controlled with varying degrees of success by mostly conservative measures which include relative rest, inside the shoe heel raise padding, higher heels on the shoes themselves, not walking barefoot, orthotics, well-controlled stretching and sometimes casting. But sometimes one must face the fact that certain activities involving the feet may have to be mitigated or eliminated until closure of the growth plate takes place during the teen years if the condition is not to recur either sporadically or for long periods of time even after a seemingly successful course of treatment. Certainly, at 12 years of age, "the game" has to be seen as less important than freedom from pain. |
