I have the same problem, it is called sesimoiditis. I have had it since August of 04 and have seen three podiatrist. It will not seem to heel, I am on this site to see if I can find any answers myself. Does any one have any suggestions to severe big toe and ball of the foot pain.

If you have been diagnosed with sesamoiditis, the pain should be beneath the first metatarsal head, not beneath the great toe as was stated by the questioner to which you have responded.

If fracture of the sesamoid has been ruled out, sesamoiditis is generally successfully resolved by local corticosteroid injection and/or NSAIDS and/or padding to shift the weight off of the painful area. When this is not sucessful, excision of the sesamoid . . . almost exclusively the tibial (medial) one is generally considered.
