Today we paid Tribute to Dominic Martorana who was murdered 15 years ago. As I stood there with his Uncle, I could feel the deep pain he has endured all of these years. The waiting, wondering, trying to understand why or how this brutal murder could happen to someone who was kind, caring, sensitive, compasionate and fought for our country in Vietnam. Whether it's one day, one year, five years, ten years or fifteen years the pain is always there. It's endless. It's not something one gets over but one that someone learns to live with on a day to day basis. If you have never been touched by violence consider yourself lucky. If you are witholding information concerning any of these murders and think that it doesn't matter - You are VERY WRONG. Every day it matters. |
