Nine Years - How can it be? It is still so fresh in my mind. I have forgotten so many other things but August 5th, 1999 is etched in my head. The phone calls, the fear in Gary's face and voice. Who would have ever thought that someone was about to kill him? It never entered my mind.
How someone lives, eats and sleeps knowing they took someone's life or has information that can help a family to put an end to this or any nightmare is beyond me.
So, here is to another year of waiting for someone to be brave enough to tell the truth. Because I know there are many people who use the lame excuse of I am too scared. Too scared to talk but not to scared to allow these killer's to get away with murder.
I made a promise at Gary's casket that I would find the truth. Since then, I have made some more promises. I am not going to be like so many others out there who just turn away and stop caring. So many business owners want to sweep Gary's case and so many other's under the rug, so patron's aren't afraid to come to their establishments. Even Crime Alert has taken ALL the cold case files off their site. That's WRONG! Gary and ALL the victim's deserve JUSTICE and all their killer's deserve to be held accountable.
Can anyone even begin to imagine if this happened to their child, their brothers, sisters, husband, wife, friend, neighbor or co worker? Probably not, unless you walk in our shoes and see and feel the hurt.
So Gary, don't look down from heaven too often, just long enough to send some strength and courage.
