I have been doing research on WHY people don't speak out against violence. It has become the way of our country to remain silent. Even if the victim is a family member, the mentality is to remain silent.
The "Snitches get Stiches" campaign has taken hold across Berks County and our Nation.
I have a hard time understanding, because what I and other survivors need is to know, why? who? how?
This belief is a threat to all of us. It empowers criminals to keep terrorizing families and communities. If a murderer kill's once and gets away with it, don't you think they will kill again? How does one live with knowing they have taken a human life? How do they eat, sleep, or have any peace inside them ever?
We have to make it stop. Silence is not the answer. It is only empowering the criminals and allows them to continue doing what they do best.
