Jane, more information is needed to answer your question and you really need to address these questions with your oncologist and/or internist. First, I need to know the reason the bone scan was ordered in the first place. Unfortunately, you are on chemotherapy and I don't know if you had the scan to check to see if there was any additional involvement of the bones or if you had the scan for other reasons. Do you have a history of diabetes or a family history of diabetes? You stated that your oncologist did not expect the problem to resolve, did that refer to the peripheral neuropathy that was induced by the chemotherapy or the degenerative bone changes? Obviously you have a complicated case that can not be treated over the internet. I think you must discuss your concerns with your oncologist/internist to determine your next step so you can be educated to determine if a visit to your podiatrist can be beneficial. The more information you have, the better it will be for you if and when you do see a podiatrist.
