Mark sorry this is so long
From Gen. 12 to Acts 28:28 everything that was happening was happening within the context of the "promises made unto the Fathers” Abraham Isaac and Jacob.” As late as Acts 26 when Paul is making his defense before King Agrippa he says; Acts 26:21-22 21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.
22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: (when it says “none other things” I let those words say what they mean and mean what they say.)
When Paul appealed to Caesar and he finally arrived in Rome he call for the Jews and said: Acts 28:20
20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
Acts 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
Acts 28:24-25 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed,
The word departed is apolyō. The first mention of this word is in Matt. 1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately. (It means divorcement)
This was Israel’s divorcement. Then there was this profound declaration: Acts 28:28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
Then we find three very different things in the dealings of God. And I will let His Word do the telling.
1 Timothy 2:3-6
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; (God our Savior, the phrase is used 9 times in 1 Tim. and Titus; why? Because until the Salvation of God was sent unto the Gentiles He was Israel’s Savior.( Acts 13:22-23 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will.
23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Savior, Jesus:) and the only way that the Gentiles could be included was to be grafted into their good olive tree, Rom.11)
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (During the Acts period the Jew was the mediator for salvation, not now)
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. (To be testified in due time means in its proper season. (1st Tim. was written in the early 60s, that was the proper season; now that Israel is divorced and the Salvation of God is amongst the Gentiles; now is the proper season.)
1 Timothy 3:15-16 But if I tarry long, that you may know how you should behave yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Godliness is no mystery. Godliness is to think like God—we have the mind of Christ; to act like God—we have the new nature within—and we can labor with God in what He is doing. This is Godliness. This is the adoption—son ship. The Mystery here is that for the very first time the “House of God” is now amongst the Gentiles.
