I responded to an old post from Jan 2006 but I am not sure it went through, so I am restating. I had posted then that my daughter, 9 at the time, could not dorsiflex. I took your advice and made an appointment. The only doctor that would see her at her age was in Knoxville, TN, 1.5 hours away. I took her there and he made her run up and down the hall, said she had 0% dorsiflex in both feet and said she was happy and healthy to take her home and forget it. He did prescribe physical therapy so we took her and she still tries to do stretching exercises, but it has not improved. As I mentioned before her dad also has this problem. He has his whole life and once he stopped growing, it didn't get any better or worse. I noticed that Taylors feet started arching and her toes clawing this summer. Her dads are pretty bad. So I took her to another doctor. He took one look and said it was Charcot Marie Tooth. He did nerve tests by shocking her and doing accupuncture, the tests were all negative, but he maintained his diagnosis, stating her dad would definitely test positive since he was older. I sent him to be tested because I disagreed. His tests were also negative, but Dr. still maintains diagnosis for both. I am taking her to her general doctor tomorrow to request a referral to Vanderbilt for another opinion. Should I keep pushing this or just accept the diagnosis? Any ideas on what it could be or who I can take her to that may be able to help her?
