I also had surgery to remove bunions from each foot and was told that yes, they can reform.
I was told that bunions form due to poor biomechanics and that if you do not correct the biomechanical problem the bunions have a better chance of coming back. So my podiatrist/surgeon put me into a custom orthotic.
Frankly, I’m not sure how much the orthotic will help me. I run about 3,000 miles a year and I tend to land more to the front of my foot than the heel. Since my orthotic is not “full length,” I worry a bit that it won’t do much to protect the former bunion area if I keep running. |
