It sounds as if you have something on you fourth toe, and not the metatarsal(which is the bone lying immediatly behind your toe). Whatever it is, corn patches are not a good idea as they ussually have caustic or keratolytic acid on them. This has the potential for mascerating the toe and causing an ulcer if not used properly. The acid also reponds differently in different people depending on the amount of moisture (sweat) on the foot.
If it is due to pressure from your shoe, it will almost certainly be relieved when you remove the shoe. Sometimes changing to a comfortable lace-up shoe does the trick. If the lesion persists, visit a podiatrist, as it could be many other things such as a fungus, contact eczema etc. |
