I have a bunion on my right foot and 18 months ago I saw a DPM and he recommended a bunionectomy and suggested I wear a silicone spacer between my big toe and second toe. Since then, I have not had pain between my toes and my bunion is not as sensitive if bumped. I recently saw a different foot doctor for a second opinion and he suggested the same surgery, osteotomy. As I read this material, I am having doubts as to how necessary it is for me to have this corrective surgery in January 06. Can you advise me whether I should have it done now...when it is not so serious, or should I wait a year or 5 years, etc.
