Patricia,
I would appreciate any help you might be able to provide. I have been working on this for awhile now. Recently, I have been trying to find 1920 orphanages near Marsland or Leonard, NE to see if I can locate Carmelitta in any of their records, but no luck so far.
9-24-1914 Female Nebraska
I am searching for any information regarding the birth parents of Bernice Carmelitta Enyeart (or Carmalitta Bernice) or her adoption in the 1920's.
On the 1930 census, she was listed as adopted daughter of Earle Thorwell Enyeart. Mother listed as Rosetta M. Enyeart (possibly maiden name Sage). Residence on census was Marsland, Nebraska. She was listed as 15 years old and as Carmelitta B. on this census. Also listed was an adopted brother Clarence Eugene Enyeart (listed as Eugene C. on this census) age 12 (maybe or maybe not her biological brother since parent's state of birth differs). They were not with these parents on the 1920 census so were likely adopted in the 1920s.
Parent's residence in 1920 was Leonard, Nebraska so adoption may have taken place near there.
Bernice Carmelitta's birthdate is 9/24/1914 (likely born in either Kansas or Nebraska, but this is different on different censuses) and she died on 10/1/1989 in North Platte, NE as Bernice C. Radcliff.
Any information would be appreciated. I am searching for her as I recently found out that she was my biological grandmother. I am adopted as well and would like to know my ancestors/relatives and heritage on this side of my family. Thank you so much. |
