First of all, as you are probably aware, I am a podiatrist and my expertise in oncology is limited.

But I believe that bone IS the most common metastatic site for breast cancer, followed, I think, by lung, liver and brain. The bone density test was probably intended, as the finding of HIGH bone density seems to be at least a presumptive indicator associate with breast cancer, as it can be an indicator of levels of hormones which have been linked to both bone density and breast cancer.

Chemotherapy is decidely nasty stuff, and it certainly can and does have adverse effects on the nervous system. Resultant neuropathies are not uncommon, but recovery from such caused neuropathies as well as neuropathies in general is rather uncertain, though such symptoms have been know to disappear in some cases after the "chemo" is discontinued. Neurologic disorders CAN have effect on the integrity of bone.

As an aside, I would think that it would be unusual for a patient to have gained 20 pounds while on chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

All that being said, I am not sufficiently well-founded in cancer and its therapies to opine as to whether the foot problem you are experiencing, including the demineralization of the bone, is connected with your malignancy, and I would not feel comfortable advising you as to a definitive diagnosis, etiology, treatment or prognosis.

I advise you first hash this out with your oncologist prior to consulting a foot specialist.
