Certainly, you could have involvement of the extensor tendons to the toes. They do run along the dorsum (top)of the foot after traveling with but little protection under a broad bifucated ligament in the area of the instep.

But your complaint of tingling in the toes would suggest sensory nerve involvement. As I had previously stated, these nerves are very superficially located, poorly padded and easily traumatized. Also, any scar tissue resultant from previous trauma to the area can have entrapped the nerves causing symptoms such as you have described.

Of course, it could be a combination of both tendonitis and sensory nerve traumatization or entrapment.

What to do?? . . . Stop the kicking for now and see if things get better. Traumatized nerves may be slow to recover, if, in fact, they do. It is possible that recovery may be relative quick, but more likely it may take 6 months or more, depending on the severity. If there IS improvement, don't be too quick to beat it up again.
