I am not attempting to give you a hard time about your question, but am hopeful that my comments, even though critical, will aid in giving you the ability to assist your doctor in defining your problem and hopefully arriving at an effective treatment.
First of all, I have to wonder why, since I told you that as I did not adequately understand your post, and I presented to you a couple of references with instructions as to how to go about better presenting your case both here and to your doctor, that you have made no attempt at all to employ that format.
I have been in practice far before than the 22 years ago which you mentioned, and have never heard of a procedure where a "wire" (I assume you mean a pin such as a K-Wire)employed in a hammertoe surgery is supposed to come out gradually and be trimmed. But as you complain mainly of the burning pain on both the formerly operated toe and the non-operated toe, the problem clearly is not the result of the former surgery. I am further confused by your concern that this burning in both feet may be related to an infection, much less a specific one such as MRSA, as you offer no symptoms which should, even by a lay person, be thought consistent with a vigorous infection. I also cannot fathom why your doctor suggested a podiatric surgeon for the burning problems. Such sensations are generally the result of a neuropathy, and when present in only a couple of the toes of both feet would hardly to be amenable to any sort of surgery. So, I have to conclude that there has been no targeted thought regarding this problem either by you or your doctor.
I think you need a doctor who can start from the beginning and will listen to, but not allow the likely extraneous information which you are presenting, such as corns on the top of the toe and wires left in the toe to color his/her thought process in assessment and evaluation of the possible causes of your problem. I would think that someone who deals with neurological problems might be of more assistance.
Do work on your presentation, so that it is in a logical and chronological order and does not require later equivocation or reversal of statements. |
