It is indeed possible that he might be suffering from Sever's disease, but not necessarily so. Accurate diagnosis is generally a prerequisite for effective care, your first step should be to have him obtain a professional and learned diagnosis.

Although, I am not asserting that your son has that condition, the pain of Sever's disease is generally visited on the posterior aspect of the heel, and can be further elicited by pinching the area of the apophysis between the fingers of the inspector's hand. But that symptom alone is not sufficient for a diagnosis. X-rays MAY be helpful, but an adequate examination is necessary before any definitive conclusion on which treatment might be based is required. In thus-confirmed conditions, various treatments, from rest to heel pads to orthotics to casts to crutches have been employed, depending on the severity of the condition. But it is universally necessary to severely limited the activity of the child during treatment, and I would not recommended continue activities requiring running or jumping until the pain has completely resolved for at least several weeks and perhaps more. Sever's disease is self-limiting and will always resolve when the bone has fully grown and the apophysis has eventually closed.

Get a real hands-on diagnosis first.
