Wound healing of a defect in a flexion or extension crease can be difficult due to the fact that the wound edges are never really adequately stabilized, and thus tearing takes place of the fragile tissue laid down in the early stages of wound healing. But friction alone would not likely have caused the intitial breakdown in the skin unless in it were severely atrophic or perhaps infected with a fungal organism or was affected by a dermatologic problem. I would look first to determine and correct any underlying problems which caused the wound in the first place. Other than that, keeping the wound edges as stabilized as possible, maintaining cleanliness of the wound and maintaining good health of the adjacent tissues would be helpful in supporting wound healing.
