I fractured my right foot 5th metatarsal on March 1 and have been non-weight bearing, in a cast for 14 weeks until yesterday. The cast was removed but there is still 1mm of the break yet to heal. I am in an short aircast with minimal weight bearing as tolerated, gradually moving to all weight bearing within 4 weeks. The swelling of my foot worsened yesterday, so today I do not have the boot on and I am not weight bearing. I am keeping it elevated to limit swelling. I have two questions: how much swelling is normal and as my podiatric surgeon and I are still trying to gain approval for it, how beneficial would a bone stimulator be at this point?
