First of all, your question, certainly with the bare-bones facts supplied by you, can certainly not be answered in responsible manner other than to recommend that your brother contact a doctor for a hands-on examination.
But why would you consider that it is an appropriate decision for your brother to have you asking questions on a forum regarding a potentially emergency problem which might, if improperly treated or non-treated, result in the loss of his foot just because he would have to pay for at least one visit to a doctor for an evaluation, diagnosis and, at the minimum, advice as to its priority for treatment?
Medical care to the truly indigent is free in the U.S. Those who do not meet that threshold of poverty but can't afford full fees are not very often turned away by most doctors and hospitals. The basic necessities of life, which include food and shelter are not items which are provided through insurance. Why is it that if some third party does not pay for one's medical care, one assumes that he/she cannot opt to use the same sort of money that he/she would find to pay for shelter and food?
He would be penny wise and pound foolish not to spend some of his even limited funds for proper medical advice through hands-on examination. The cost for not doing so might well be a personal disaster. |
