Assuming you have chosen your surgeon wisely (and that is not always possible when faced with a trauma which requires immediate intervention), the best source of relevant information would be that doctor. You place yourself at risk for even greater uncertainty and concern if you allow others who do not know the particulars of your situation, or, if former patients who believe they had similar procedures, those who know nothing but the events of their individual cases which may or may not be anything approaching typical. You open yourself up to nothing but the likelihood of either false confidence or unnecessary fears when you throw out a question such as yours. |
