It may, as you suspect, be the result of random minor trauma which should be checked out by a podiatrist, especially as you seem to be relating symptoms concerning the areas surrounding the nails rather than the nail plate itself. But if there is abnormal nail plate, and especially if it is not limited to one or two toes, I would recommend she be seen by an experienced dermatologist, as there are a number of systemic medical problems which can reflect symptomatically in nail deformities and irregularities. Especially with a developing child, I would think that you would want this checked out. |
