Sounds like you could have a really clean Bing or one with a color cover-up of some horrible damage... "fake", as you say. Snap a bunch of photos of it and send them to me as "Large" (higher resolution) photos and we should be able to figure this out pretty quickly. Plus, we'd love to check out your board. The V proceeding the number stands for Val Surf Shop, which was in North Hollywood in the mid-1960s. After we see photos of your board, we'll be able to give you a better idea of the year it was made. Based on the V and the description of the stringer and fin, I'm guessing 1963 or 1964.
