The 508th didn't arrive at Port Stewart/Cromore Estates until 8 January 1944. In June of 1943 the Regiment was at Camp Mackall North Carolina. I don't see Texas mentioned anywhere in the 508th history of the period.
Is it possible that he was brought into the Army in Texas and then volunteered for paratroop duty after the picture was taken? At Cromore the buildings everyone stayed in were Quonset hut affairs, the British called them Nissan Huts. What does the structure in the background look like?
