Gentlemen,
You are correct in most of what you say. We are grateful for the work the various LEAs that shoot at HF&G do. That's one of the reasons we afford them the range time. This level of cooperation by the way, is also called for in our club charter. These federal, state and local agencies do not have to follow HF&G range rules. Each of them have signed waivers which state that HF&G is no way responsible for any result of them being on the property and they must carry their own liability insurance.
Where answering the phone is concerned, again you are correct. There is a club manager on duty most days and if he is not outside maintaining the property, running errands or monitoring range use, he will answer the phone. I suppose we could pay someone to answer our phone 24x7, but then a dues increase would have to pay for that salary. Otherwise, all phone answering is done on a volunteer basis.
Finally, I personally update the club website every time there is a change in the range use schedule - both on the two-month home page listing and on the annual spreadsheet (the link to which is labeled with the last update date). You navigate to the specific month by the tabs at the bottom edge of the spreadsheet. If this is not working for you, perhaps the device you use to browse does not support this feature? Dates are also published in the club newsletter which is available online as well.
We can certainly try to do a better job of keeping our membership informed, but I have to say we are doing a pretty good job as it is. I am sorry that were inconvenienced, however. Please feel free to call me personally to discuss further. I am listed in the newsletter and on the web site.
Sincerely, Kevin

I find it a little irritating. The Exel schedule spreadsheet has nothing on the schedule. The website has Juvenile Probation on the RIFLE RANGE. Nobody answers the phone. I drive with this traffic for 40 minutes, get there, they are on BOTH ranges, have their guns on their hips in the parking lot (against range rules? Not for them I guess), and I have to turn the hell around and drive another half hour to get home, not to mention the loadout for the range etc it's a total utter waste of my very rare free time. Someone ought to at least answer the phone when this nonsense is going on.

I get that they need the range, but I also get that I pay to use the range, and my taxes pay them to use the range. They could at least follow the rules the rest of us mere civilians pay to follow. I conceal carry and I have to disarm when I arrive, I don't complain about it although with the recent assaults across PA at ranges I think it's idiotic. Statistically LEO commit misdemeanors and felonies a....
